Equality and diversity training and facilitation
Nigel Singer originally trained as a civil engineer but slowly moved towards working in further education with groups of disaffected 16 year olds. He later did individual work with adults returning to education.
In 1991 he trained as a volunteer community mediator and a year later was involved in training a group of new mediators. In 1997 he set up his own business and since then has trained hundreds of people to work as mediators in communities, organisations and prisons.
His work has expanded to include many aspects of interpersonal communication and he has worked in commercial, public and voluntary sector organisations.
He is inspired by an array of influences, starting with Creative Listening; a discipline taught to him first in 1983 by the wonderful and unusual Rachel Pinney who developed this discipline.
He has trained in Aikido since 1988 and uses both its principles and some of the physical practice within his work.
Since 1997, he has been an informal student of Process Oriented Psychology, which has supported him with both considerable personal development and in drawing together different strands of his experience.
Underpinning all of his work and approach is the concept that the greater the amount of awareness we can bring into our own lives and their circumstances, the more thoughtfully and ably we will act.
