My clients consistently benefit from my unusual and long-standing mix of experience as a clinical psychologist, improvement consultant, and academic researcher.

Moreover, I love what I do. Helping individuals and the systems they work in maximise their potential is privileged, exciting and enjoyable work that we can do together.

How I Work ¶

I am committed to approaches that are tailored to your needs. Usually this will mean building on the strengths and vision that all stakeholders bring to the task of improvement. My exposure to solution focussed approaches to improvement in 2002 complemented on my existing strengths-based approach to individual service planning and systems development. The solutions-focussed aspect of my practice has flourished to great effect in an increasing variety of contexts, and latterly through coaching practice as well as group and systems interventions.

My work aims to support embedded cultural change wherein leaders develop their ability to affirm both their own and others strengths, equipped with the wisdom of how change occurs within complex systems. An important element in achieving this is a consultancy, research and training experience that models appreciation, affirmation, innovation, creativity and a concern to meet the most ambitious aspirations of end users. I am highly skilled in approaches that provide new learning, clarity of direction, the confidence to engage in sustainable improvement and an enjoyable and stimulating experience for participants. I particularly enjoy the challenge of working with large groups of diverse stakeholders and in complex and conflictual contexts that require high levels of professionalism and the application of social psychological knowledge.

I enjoy working alongside other consultants and to work with organisations to build capacity to do more of their own development in-house.
