The provision of health and social care in the UK is changing. The government is in the process of breaking up the NHS as a monopoly provider and looking to establish a diversified market place of health and related services. This offers a range of opportunities and challenges to psychologists working in the NHS and the private sector.

One important area of change is in relation to court work. Proposals* are currently under consideration to commission expert witness reports from larger clinical networks with internal governance structures rather than from lone practitioners.

Another current issue is the shifting employment market. For psychologists this means that more people than ever are looking to the private sector for work, especially newly qualified professionals, but often do not know where to begin.

Psychology Solutions Partnership is committed to building a strong and supportive network of psychologists and other professionals to deliver therapeutic, legal, training and consultancy services in the Bristol region. By organising together we hope to be well placed to respond to the changing health market that is rapidly approaching.
