A Relational Frame Theory Primer

Date: 15/01/08
Speaker: Simon Dymond
Cost: Free
Location: Medical Education Centre

Relational Frame Theory (RFT) is a contemporary behavioural account of human language and cognition. It is an approach explicitly designed for the analysis of complex human behavior, and provides the empirical and conceptual tools to conduct an experimental analysis of most clinical phenomena. In so doing, it addresses many of the limitations of earlier, Skinnerian accounts. This workshop will introduce delegates to the defining features of RFT, outline some of the supporting evidence for RFT, and provide guidance on how to undertake analogue and intervention research from an RFT perspective. The links between the traditionally disparate perspectives of cognitive and behavioural psychology will also be emphasised.
