Deliberate Self Harm in young people poses huge challenges to families and professionals.
This event looks at the reasons why some young people self-harm as a method of coping with emotional distress. From early attachment experiences to ongoing relationship issues, the themes of communication and emotional literacy are explored as is the role of the professional in supporting this vulnerable population.
The training reinforces the need for open, understanding and non-judgmental adults to provide an empathic but boundaried relationship with young people who self harm.
This event was staged under the auspices of North Bristol NHS Trust. The materials are posted here for convenience.
